Service Dogs - International Travel

At Harbour Air, we recognize the vital role certified service dogs play in supporting individuals with disabilities. Our goal is to make your travel experience as smooth and comfortable as possible—for both you and your service dog.

Travel Requirements for Service Dogs

To ensure a seamless journey, please review the following guidelines:

  • Your service dog must be trained to perform specific tasks that assist with a disability.
  • The dog must be individually trained by a recognized organization or professional specializing in service dog training.
  • Your service dog must meet all travel, entry, and exit requirements for your destination.

Documentation Required (at least 48 hours before travel)

Please email the following to our Customer Contact Centre at reservation@harbourair.com:

  • Completed U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form
Click here to view the form.

Please note: You are responsible for ensuring you meet the entry requirements of the United States when travelling with your service animal. See the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for specific entry requirements.

While we will make every effort to accommodate last-minute requests, advance notice is greatly appreciated.

Onboard Experience

Service dogs are welcome to travel in the cabin. We offer pre-boarding for passengers with service dogs and make every effort to seat the dog close to its owner to meet disability-related needs. During the flight, the dog’s short harness must be secured through a seatbelt.

Control & Behavior Expectations

At all times—both in the terminal and onboard—the service dog must remain under control and be harnessed, leashed, or tethered when not in a kennel.

Please note: If a dog presented as a service dog displays behavior inconsistent with trained service animals (e.g., barking, biting, lunging, jumping, or acting aggressively or out of control), Harbour Air reserves the right to treat the dog as a pet and apply our standard pet travel policy.

We hope these guidelines help ensure a safe and comfortable journey. For additional information, please click here to visit our website.
